But cowards who turn away from me, and unbelievers, and the corrupt, and murderers, and the immoral, and those who practice witchcraft, and idol worshipers, and all liars — their doom is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death." Rev. 21:7-8 NLT
This is a sobering verse because it speaks of the second death and what we describe as the lake of fire or hell. This is one of two places decribed in God's Word where people who die physically here on the earth, will spend eternity. There is life after death for everyone. We choose now where we will spend eternity after we die. Jesus said, "I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no man will spend eternity in heaven, but through Me."
But the part that I want to focus on is where God says "and all liars" will be cast into the lake of fire. Is it ever acceptable to God for us to tell a lie? Does God accept a lie sometimes and at other times condemn a lie? Is it acceptable for a leader to lie to protect himself. Is it proper for the President to lie to the nation in order to deceive them and keep them from knowing his true intentions and plans? In other words, is a lie ever good?
I believe the answer, based on the verse we read at the beginning and other verses in God's Word, plainly lets us know that a lie is always wrong and is sin and that sinners will be punished in the lake of fire.
So, weather President or our nation or a pauper, it is always sin to lie for any reason and all liars are sinners and will someday be punished if they do not repent and turn to Jesus Christ. So, be truthful and honest and let your yes be yes and your no be no. It is always right to tell the truth!
